Jocelyn Albright Desmond, 17, passed away March 15, 2012, due to suicide. Bullying, depression, and impulsivity were among the factors that contributed to her taking her life. She had long been an advocate for friends and classmates who were bullied. Many members of the Lake Norman community are seeking to use her life and death to make a difference in how these issues are handled, particularly bullying, which affects so many young people. Maddy's Fatty's is joining this effort by naming Jocelyn's favorite treat "Jocelyn's Brownie", and donating $0.25 from each one sold to Pacers.org and the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention.
